The Administrative Services Division oversees the entire operation of the Sheriff's Office with the emphasis on the following functions that are directly assigned to Administration:
Personnel:
Responsibilities include the recruitment and selection of personnel suitable for law enforcement and Detention Center careers. Receive applications and initiate the process for both sworn and non-sworn employment opportunities within the agency.
For current Employment Oportunities and employment application instructions please review the employment page.
Finance/Budget:
This area of the Administrative Services Division prepares and tracks the Sheriff's Office annual budget. The Sheriff's Office budget is a stand alone function from other funding sources within county government as the Sheriff's Office was removed from the county general fund to a special levy in 2006. This function works closely with other county departments to manage payroll, procurement and accounts receivable.
Records:
This unit serves as the collection point for maintenance of all incident reports and other documents pertaining to criminal investigations. Quality assurance checks governed by mandated uniform crime reporting standards are conducted on all reports prior to their submittal to the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division.
For specifics on obtaining records from the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, please review the Records Page
Training:
The Sheriff's Office maintains and staffs a training facility that serves as a Regional Training Facility for the SC Criminal Justice Academy. This allows officers from surrounding agencies to capture training requirements mandated by the SC Criminal Justice Academy here locally rather that having the expense of travel and the loss of additional man hours if taken in Columbia. Deputies are required to receive annual updates on law enforcement practices as required by law and agencies nationwide have found that training must be conducted constantly and consistently to stay current with the ever-changing trends and legal updates.
Aviation:
The Sheriff's Office has one 1970 OH58A Bell helicopter for use in law enforcement missions. The Sheriff's Office has several pilots that are on-call as a collateral responsibility to their regularly assigned duties. Mutual Aid agreements with surrounding agencies allow the Sheriff's Office to provide assistance to jurisdictions that may not have aviation capabilities. This service provides a reduced response time for critical incidents with only the cost of fuel reimbursement to the requesting agency.
Supply: The Sheriff's Office maintains a supply unit that is responsible for the issuance of uniforms and related equipment to all personnel. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent to adequately equip the employees of the Sheriff's Office and the Supply Unit is tasked with the mission to maintain an accurate inventory of all equipment and the ability to project the future need for replacement. |
